HOOKERS WITH A HEART PRIMITIVE RUG HOOKING CLUB

COLORADO HOOK-IN
Third annual hook-in is schduled for Tuesday, February 27, 2001, 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at First Plymouth Congregational Church, 3501 So. Colorado Boulevard, Englewood, CO. Bring a friend, a rug or two to show, sack lunch and have a great day hooking and meeting other Colorado hookers.
There will be coffee, tea and sweets to munch on, plus several vendor booths so you can add to you wool and supply stash.

FAIRFIELD-GRACE UNITED METHODIST RUG EXHIBIT 2001
April 28, 2001 8AM - 3:30 PM
PROGRAM AT 1:30 PM: Liz Alpert Fay will be presenting a slide show regarding "Inspiration: Past and Present". As a textile artist and art teacher, she will discuss where you get your inspiration and how to create an original hooked rug design. Ms. Alpert Fay has most recently been recognized by the Ridgefield Guild of Artists and Aldrich Museum as one of five emerging artists in Connecticut and is the first artist to display fiber arts at the Ridgefield Guild Galleries. Rug Hooking Magazine's Celebrations 10 featured her "Chelsea's Rug" which will be
on display at the show. "Inspiration from the Past" will be the designs of Virginia Black
Dulski. Ms. Dulski started her hooking career at the age of 65 and created 9 original rugs in the eight years before her death. Her daughter, Ginger Hanrahan, will speak about her mother's primitive style, vision and artistic influences. This memoriam is being publicly
displayed for the first time this year.
ADMISSION FREE to participants that bring 5 or more hooked rugs to display, usually 400 attendees and 200 rugs on display.
ALL OTHER ADMISSIONS - 5.00 Net proceeds support missions and programs of the church.
VENDORS - 12 vendors from NY, NJ, CT, ME, MA and NC
DOOR PRIZES - donated by the vendors.
LUNCH - and baked goods will be available. If you are bringing a group of 10 or more people or a large quantity of rugs, please contact us to pre-register.

ODYSSEY 2001 FIBER ARTS CONFERENCE
JUNE 10 - 16, 2001
Workshops and conference on fiber arts to be held June 10-16, 2001 at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville Illinois Campus. Conference also includes visits to St. Louis Missouri area galleries with special exhibits of fiber arts. Workshops include color theory, material preperation, dying techniques, symbology and motifs, tapestry design and other subjects. Rug hookers will be displaying work and demonstrating.

CEDAR CREEK HOOK-IN
FEBRUARY 19 - 22, 2001
The St. Louis Rug Guild is hosting a hooking retreat at Cedar Creek Conference Center, New Haven Missouri (about 80 minutes west of St. Louis Missouri. Overnight accommodations and meals are part of the deal - or day visitors are also welcome. Dates: Feb 19-22, 2001

WEEKEND OF WOOL AT KINDRED SPIRITS
June 1st and June 2nd, 2001
Nancy Blair of Tomorrows Heirlooms in Allendale Michigan will be the featured guest of Kindred Spirits. Nancy specializes in primitive rugs and will bring crates and crates of her beautiful hand-dyed wools and other rug hooking suppies. They will have refreshments, demonstrations, rugs on display and door prizes. If you can stay a while and hook, bring your project with you!
(This is an event that I would drive 5 hours to get to if I had to. It is truly that wonderful and unusual to see such beautiful wool, patterns and finished rugs in one location.)
