We are pleased that you have chosen to take a closer look at Primitive Woolens.
We are a cottage industry business that evolved from our love of textiles, a simultaneous urge to create hooked rugs, and a desire to share this addiction with others.

When ordering the brochure, you will receive a color format as well as black and white drawings to better visualize our "primitive look". The amazing aspect of rug hooking is that no two rugs of the same design will ever look the same. Each will be an original work of art as a result of your individual color selection. If you are the least bit intimidated by color planning we will be glad to assist you.


While some of the designs found in our collection are adaptations of antique rugs, others are our original work. To maintain the primitive look that we love, designs are hand-drawn on Premium Scottish Linen, and hooked with both hand-dyed and recycled plaids and tweeds. We also prefer a 1/4" (#8 cut) for our projects, as well as muted (but rich) colors.




Primitive Woolens offers custom hooked rugs and will work with you to meet your individual needs. A color catalog of Primitive Woolens patterns is available for $3.50. Please call if you have any questions.
