: i would like to know what the difference is between using wool yarn or wool strips for a rug? which is most preferred?
this is a question I wondered too, My great grandmother would have always used the very wide strips of fabric and wool, because this is all they had around. People who are lucky enough to have sheep and spin would have used yarn. I like the primitive style of hooking with the wide strips of fabric, but recently tried some beautiful wool yarn a dear friend had given me, and now I love the yarn too! I can get fine detail with the yarn, and it's great for fine detailed pictorals etc. So I guess this doesn't really answer your question, but I guess it would depend on what look you are striving for, and what materials you have available to you. Come on guys and gals, help me out here!!!!
