LAURA W.
PIERCE
I have been rug hooking since I joined our local ATHA guild, Wine Country Rug
Hookers, 7 years ago. I started teaching in April 2003 and started teacher training with
the National Guild of Pearl K McGown Hookrafters in June 2003. My mother, Emma
Webber, has been making rugs all of my life, and I knew someday, I would too. I am
self-taught, design my own patterns, and enjoy the artistic play of color, design and texture
in rug making. I am teaching at the Petaluma Park & Recreation department, and am
pursuing other Sonoma County venues where I can teach. I am available for individual
instruction and offer dye classes in my home studio.

MARY ANNE
WISE Using techniques common to visual artists but adapted for rug hooking, Mary Anne will teach students to design rugs full of vitality, authenticity and originality. She views herself as a guide helping students "mine" their life experiences to access their intuitive artistry. No drawing skills are necessary. Classes are illustrated with daily slide lectures. Mary Anne believes that imagination, personal inventiveness and a lack of artistic inhibition are the factor that comprise the best hooked rugs. She also lectures on contemporary rug hooking and tufting. |
