It has been an interesting and rewarding journey that I've traveled in the past 28 years since I returned to traditional rug hooking. I had started hooking while still in school, but when I married, I left my unfinished rug, wools, and equipment at my parents' home until I was settled in my own. Well, that must have taken longer than anticipated, for when I wanted to pick up my hooking, my mother said, "Oh, those old things! I saved your half-hooked burlap, but threw away everything else!!!." Years later, after raising children, etc., I found myself ready to finish that rug, and the rest is history. It wasn't long before I became totally involved. Through study at the McGown Northern Teachers' Workshop, I not only became certified as a teacher, but also served as President of the organization.

I currently give lessons in several local communities, and teach at seminars, workshops, and McGown, and ATHA Guild exhibits, and events from coast to coast. Over the years I've taught at many different rug schools and camps, and in the process have met a wonderful variety of interesting people that I wouldn't have known otherwise. This is the added bonus for all of us. We do more than create hooked articles; we meet new people, make lasting friendships, and learn to share our interests and knowledge.

I've truly enjoyed my years of involvement with rug hooking, and the challenge of dyeing wool, cutting it into strips, and forming them into colorful, and detailed designs will always add excitement and fascination to my life.

Can we ask anything more of a hobby???
