Stained Glass Iris
Hooked by Kris Panettiere
Designed by Jane Olson
Although my grandmother is Jane Olson of Jane Olson Rug Studio who has been hooking forever,
I just started hooking about 5 years ago. This is my first project ever attempted and I feel it is a great pattern to learn on. The project is not too big and can be hooked using either thin or wider strips. It has a shaded appearance, but the swatches are actually dip-dyed so there is no real shading technique involved. There are 3 in this "Stained Glass Iris" series, and I have completed two of them. One for me, and one as a gift. I have completed other small hooked projects and am just about to start on my first rug. I would like to hook more than I do, but have a 3 1/2 year old son, and probably do not need to explain further. The Rug Hooker's Network is also my creation and it happily keeps me busy. For any of you newcomers to rug hooking that might be a little intimidated, don't be. There are so many terrific patterns available for beginners and so many talented teachers and designers to offer their help. I am still very proud of my first project and feel lucky to be a part of the rug hooking world.
Sincerely,
Kris Panettiere
