Chicken in a bed of flowers

This rug measures 75x48cm and is worked on Monk's cloth in wool yarn with a hand punch needle set on the smallest stitch size. I found a picture similar to this on a tea caddy and loved it at once, so decided to adapt it to a rug. Not being an artist at all, I needed a little help. My son drew the chicken and my grandson's colouring-in book provided the ideas for the flowers.

Australian Wildflowers

This rug measures 160x250cm It is made from wool yarn ends from a carpet factory and worked with a hand punch needle on natural coloured hessian. Each section was done separately and depict different Australian wild flowers. The designs were taken from patchwork patterns, which just happened to be the correct size for what I wanted. After completing the 9 pieces, I then made black strips in corresponding sizes and joined the lot together. To neaten the back which has many flat seams, I lined the rug with hessian.
